Whoops! Alan recently did some tinkering to the site settings to combat some nasty spam we were getting, and in the process accidentally broke the comment section. It’s fixed now, so let those comments fly!
How are y’all doing? Staying hydrated?
Since the very start of the whole Kamikaze project, animation has been our dream. Fans asked for it for years, and we’re so thrilled to be at this big milestone! Go watch! Tell us what you think, and share it around!
We’re counting down to the YouTube premiere of Kamikaze: Trial by Fire and to celebrate we’ve just uploaded a music video for “Bring the Reign”, the original song featured in the short! If you like catchy dance songs, you’re gonna want to listen to this. Trial by Fire premieres August 3rd, so don’t forget to subscribe!
This Friday, our very first fan-funded animated short will be screening at Orlando MegaCon! If you’re planning on going and you haven’t seen the film yet now’s your chance! We unfortunately can’t make it to the screening, but we can’t wait to hear from those who can.
Can’t make it to MegaCon? We’ll be showing the film again at MomoCon in Atlanta the following weekend, and you can always purchase your very own DRM-free copy in our online shop!
Hi All! If you’ve been trying to reach the site for the last few days, you’ll know that it’s been a bit… rough. Long story short, there were some updates we procrastinated on for too long, and eventually the site just threw its hands up in the air in frustration. After some much-needed updating, the site is back up and running. Unfortunately, for the moment it looks like all the lovely comments made by readers over the years didn’t make it. We’ll see what we can do to fix that, but just in case we’ve truly lost them: a thousand apologies!
The keen-eyed among you may notice that the URL for the site is now a little bit cleaner. The old URL was an embarrassingly large part of why the scheduled upgrades didn’t happen in the past. Moving forward, we should be in good hands *knocks furiously on wood*
Thank for your patience, and happy reading!
Hi everyone,
We want to take a moment to give you an update on the webcomic and how that relates to some things going on behind the scenes.
As some readers may remember, there was a pause in the comic in the latter half of 2019, which was due to a sudden medical problem faced by our fearless writer and co-creator Carrie. We didn’t share many details with fans at the time, but it was a scary time involving an emergency hospitalization, and intensive surgery. She made it through like a champ, but in the process we learned that Carrie has been fighting against a destructive chronic illness known as Endometriosis. We hoped at the time that the professional care she received would be the last time the Endo would have to be dealt with that aggressively.
This unfortunately isn’t the case. The illness has rebounded, and for the better part of the last year it has pretty severely impacted Carrie’s day-to-day life, not to mention her available energy to work on Kamikaze. The good news is we have a date for a new round of treatment this fall, and Carrie is going to be treated by experts with years of experience treating Endometriosis. Because we know what we’re up against this time, there’s a much better chance of being able to put the illness on the ropes.
The upshot of this is that we are going to need some more time before we can start publishing the next episode of the main Kamikaze storyline. In the meantime, we’ll be sharing more of the stellar work of our Short Circuit anthology creators. We are also slowly finishing the last bits of polish on the animated short and working to get every Kickstarter backer their rewards. The patience and support we’ve received from everyone has been incredibly humbling, and we cannot thank you all enough.
Love to all of you,
-Alan, Carrie, and Havana
Oops! Sorry for the slightly delayed update on this one!
We’re getting closer and closer to wrapping up post-production on our first animated short, which means we can finally start sharing! The short will be released first to our Kickstarter backers, and we will be doing a big public premiere this fall. Stay tuned for more info.
